About Les Jones

Once in a while, if we are fortunate, we will find an old school craftsman living in these modern times and it is with this thought in mind that I introduce to you Les Jones. Today Les lives in a rural part of north Texas where he devotes his time to crafting fine powder  horns that are period correct, as well as some fine shooting bags that would appear to be an artifact from America's frontier past. While Les lays claim to being a Texan today, his roots are found in some of our most colorful historical locations in America. Les was born near Cincinnati, Ohio on the Ohio River. He grew up roaming the woods of that area, and well into regions of Kentucky and Tennessee. His home place was located in the fork of the Ohio and Miami Rivers. As a boy, being not a stranger to the wilderness forest trails, it was second nature for Les to be able to track a deer to the kill, while leaving no sign behind for anyone who might be desiring to track the lad. Les remains to be just as at home in the forest or rowing his canoe, as the average person might be sitting at home in an easy chair. His love for guns led him to becoming an accomplished millwright and gun smith and he still uses this craft today.  When the Vietnam War came around, Les' love for our America would not let him hesitate joining the ranks of others who have always fought for what is right, democracy and the right to serve God. After serving his country in the U.S. Army Security Agency, Les left the military, and the trails of life eventually led him to his present home in Texas, where his reputation as a historical craftsman is known by more than a few. If a person is desiring a powder horn, shooting bag, they would do well to contact Les Jones, craftsman, man of integrity, American.
